terry-fox-foundationSaturday April 29th was another wonderful day for The Terry Fox Foundation as we hosted our Annual Run Organizer Workshop with more than 40 volunteers who traveled to Terry’s hometown of Port Coquitlam from 20 different communities around our region. it was a day full of inspiration, laughter and a chance for everyone to come together and share ideas and meet their fellow volunteer Run Organizers.

We were inspired by a beautiful presentation by Terry’s brother, Fred Fox, who shared what his brother’s legacy has meant to his family and why it must continue for Terry. We heard a story of courage and hope from ten year cancer survivor Kayte Gyles who at the age of 16 was diagnosed with dysgerminoma, an adolescent form of ovarian cancer. We were enlightened by organizers sharing how the Terry Fox Run takes place in their community and saw a fantastic presentation from our marketing and communications department on how we work to share news of the Run and how we are here to help our Run Organizers have the very best Terry Fox Run in their community. It was truly an inspiring day for all who attended.

Every year, it is a privilege to host our workshop and thank our wonderful volunteers and show them the respect and appreciation they deserve for the thousands of hours they spend raising funds for The Terry Fox Foundation and cancer research. Your donation hotel stays for our out of town guests was greatly appreciated!

I look forward to an opportunity to continue to work with PoCo Inn and Suites Hotel in pursuit of Terry’s dream…a world free from cancer. We are deeply grateful for your support!

IAFFOn behalf of The Port Coquitlam Fire Fighters Association, we would like to thank you for your generous contribution in support of our Movember Hockey Tournament. Each year Movember continues to advance its mission of “Changing the face of men’s health”, focusing on male cancers and other health issues. Through the Movember campaign and its vital fundraising efforts, many lives will be impacted and changed for the better.

As a proud participant of this campaign we organized our 6th annual 4 on 4 hockey tournament. We had 16 lower mainland fire department teams participate and through tournament entry fees, raffle and 50/50, as well as our online contributions helped our team “Port Coquitlam Fire Department” raise a grant total of $14,663 which placed us 2nd in “The Great Canadian Fire Department Challenge”. This success is a direct reflection of the generosity of individuals and companies like you supporting such a worthy cause. Saturday May 30th was another wonderful day for The terry Fox Foundation as we hosted our Annual Run Organizer Wordship with more than 40 volunteers who traveled to Vancouver from locations around our region. Their enthusiasm and creativity was infectious, filling the room with laughter, applause and more than a few emotional tears!

We were inspired by stories of hope and inspiration by a remarkable yound woman who shared her cancer journey with us, the loss of her leg and an incredible surgical procedure that has allowed her to live her life, get married, have two beautiful children and share with us how she is expecting her third! We heard stories of what it was like to be on the road with Terry from a member of that incredible Marathon of Hope team and what the run truly meant to Terry. We shared great ideas to make every Terry Fox Run a wonderful success in the communities where his dream lives on. We had a remarkable Terry Fox researcher share with us the work that is being done in cancer research with the funds that our wonderful volunteers are working hard to raise.

Every year, it is a privilege to host our workshop and thank our wonderful volunteers and show them the respect and appreciation they deserve for the thousands of hours they spedn raising funds for The Terry Fox Foundation and cancer research. Your donation of accommodations for Cliff and Fran Evans from Salmon Arm, Courtney Hill from Victoria, Ted and Jan Rodonets from Powell River, Pat Gibson from Nelson and Louise Borsato from Duncan Allowed them to join us for this wonderful event.

The Christmas party and Dinner was a huge success and we would like to thank you and your staff. Our office has received many calls from our employees, guests and their families showing their appreciation as everyone really enjoyed the evening.

We have received only positive feedback about the dinner as to the quality and variety of the food. The deserts were well planned as well. The Vegetarians were especially happy with the selection of food that was provided. The children were very pleased also.

The servers and the carvers and all the attendants helping with the dinner did an excellent job and they were very courteous and efficient.

With all the responses and positive feedback we are receiving from everyone, we may need more tables and chairs for the 2015 Christmas Party.

Linette was present during the event, and along with her caterers, Radek and Iwona Maliszewski, and their helper Jaz, they all contributed to make our buffet luncheon a great success. The festively decorated atmosphere, and especially the food preparation, presentation, and delivery by Radek and Iwona, was excellent. There were many favourable comments from our members about the attractive facilities, the courteous service, and especially about the variety and quality of the food. My husband and I attended an open house event one evening last month. We were very impressed with the upgrades to the hotel. It’s a beautiful establishment including both the interior and exterior. We live nearby and appreciate having your hotel in our neighbourhood. It is convenient for our friends and family to stay over, and we know that they will have comfortable and safe stay.

The stay in the hotel was great. Everyone told us the accommodations were great and that the rooms were lovely but I think the beds were the hit. They were extremely comfortable.

The shower worked out very well for my Oma, as did the adjoining rooms. The banquet center was perfect and everyone was very happy to be able to gather together one more time before leaving.

Thank you again for all your help, the hotel turned out to be one of the best and well organized features of our wedding weekend.

On the 17th of July we (Northwest Trapshooters) held a small banquet which was organized through Linette. I must tell you that she was wonderful to deal with and made setting up the banquet, and all things associated with it a real pleasure. My wife and I thought that you should know how well Linette performed her tasks. Nothing was too small or troublesome for her to deal with. I am VERY grateful for the fact that I can now just show up to your site and know everything is in order and ready to go- the room set up, goodies, equipment…nothing for me to worry about!! Your desk staff are friendly and always available to assist if needed. The catering staff is wonderful!! She was aware we had more tea drinkers than coffee and adjusted our order accordingly, was respectful of our varied break times and completely non-disruptive to our sessions.

I wanted to let you know how happy my husband and I were with our wedding we had at your hotel. We had our ceremony there as well as our reception. After the ceremony it was wonderful that our guests could just go and relax in the lounge until we returned for the reception. The banquet hall was lovely and the plated food service was wonderful, being served was a big hit. We also spent the night there immediately after, it was so convienient and the room was great. In particular the wedding co-ordinator was amazing, she made it so easy and saved me more times than I can count. She went above and beyond. You could see your genuine care for our special day. All my guests said it was the best wedding they had ever been to!
