Let’s just call 2017 the year of non-stop celebrations because it feels like there is an event to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday every weekend. Well, there’s another one for the books. On August 26, the City of Port Coquitlam is hosting a free festival to celebrate music, arts, and nature.
What sets this event apart from other festivals in the area that it celebrates culture and diversity. A champion Lil’wat Nation hoop dancer will be performing and there is a canoe display and storytelling by the Kwikwetlem First Nation. Another differentiator is also that there will be activities with environmental ambassadors and guided nature walks that will really help you appreciate the beautiful city.
As with any festival, you won’t be wrong to expect live music, entertainment, food, and a beer garden. Pack the sun screen and lawn chairs because you’re in for a treat!
